Eupatorium purpureum

Commonly called Purple Joe-Pye weed. Why the word weed? I do not know. It is a beautiful tall native plant. The large pink flower heads turn from pink to brown as they grow older and fuzzier. This plant occurs naturally on the property along the forest edges. Besides being a beautiful plant, it is also a nectar source for butterflies.
